Welcome to my Natural Calm Review! I remember growing up, my mom was quite the health nut and she would make us drink this stuff along with carrot juice and chlorophyll. No… not at the same time! Thank goodness, that would be horrible. I have used this product with two of their flavors ( it looks like they have more now) and I’m going to give you the pros and cons and my personal experience of this magnesium supplement (happens to be my favorite).
Wait, so Why Do I need a Magnesium Supplement?
Not many people know this but 80% of adults are magnesium deficient! This is a mineral should be something we are getting from our food but don’t – There are a variety of reasons why this is the case, but we won’t get into that here. All you really need to know is that this deficiency can cause a wide range of problems in the body. I’ve compiled a list of ALL the health consequences of magnesium deficiency located at the very end of the article.
Here are the top benefits of magnesium:
- Important for Stress – Acts as a precursor for neurotransmitters like serotonin.
- Important for Athletic Performance – Activating muscles and nerves.
- Energy Levels – Creating energy in your body by activating adenosine triphosphate (ATP)
- Healthy Digestive Tract – Helping digest proteins, carbohydrates, and fats
- Muscle Repair and Recovery – Serves as a building block for RNA and DNA synthesis. That’s why a lot of Athletes and bodybuilders take ZMA (Zinc Magnesium Aspartate). Zinc and Magnesium help the recovery process immensely.
Natural Calm Review
Here are some of the reasons why Natural Calm is the best brand to get. Also, you can check out Natural Calm here if you need additional information or would like to buy it.
My Experience and Things I like:
High Absorption Rate (90%) – The type of magnesium used in Natural Calm is Magnesium Citrate which has one of the highest absorption rates. To ensure maximum absorption, it’s important to mix it with hot water so that it speeds up the reaction process. See the manufacturer note below for more information.
Reduces Stress / Calming Effect – This is one of the main reasons why I take this drink (along with the recovery benefits it has for athletes). I’m a pretty stressed out person, so whenever I feel stressed out, this definitely helps. People who are magnesium deficient have issues dealing with stress. Managing stress (especially chronic stress) is one of the keys to optimal health.
High Reviews & Long History – You can have confidence knowing that a lot of people who suffer from deficiencies and the variety of symptoms it causes swear by this product. The product is distributed from Texas and the company has been around for 15+ years.
Mixing – This is extremely easy to mix. No clumping. It dissolves quite nicely while fizzing. You want to make sure you mix it with warm/hot water (see below explanation) and that it’s done fizzing.
Tastes Great– I really like the taste of both of their flavors. I have tried two flavors, raspberry-lemon and Original (unflavored). I believe they have 3-5 flavors now.
- Unflavored (Original): Original flavor is what most people like – it has a slight citrus / chewable vitamin C taste to it. It contains no stevia.
- Raspberry Lemon: I think it still tastes great, however, if you’re not a stevia fan, you might not like this since it contains stevia.
Natural Constipation Relief – If you’re looking for a natural laxative, you can definitely use Natural calm by taking double the recommended dosage.
All Natural, Non GMO Certified, Organic, & Vegan – This magnesium drink can be taken by anyone. The back of the bottle states that it contains no yeast, diary, egg, soy, wheat, sugar, fructose, starch, preservatives, or artificial colorings and flavors.
Helps you sleep better – Magnesium is known to help aid in sleep and muscle recovery. I take this during the night and it helps with relaxation and sleep quality.
Powder form – A powder form is really convenient because you can control how much you want to take vs splitting apart pills or opening capsules.
Next up in my Natural Calm review, I’ll discuss the cons, I only found one.
Diarrhea – This isn’t a problem, but If you take too much, it has the potential to make your “pipes run”. I would just start small with half the recommended dose and ease into it, you tend to build up a tolerance to it. If you go over, you’re not going to get drastic diarrhea.
How to Achieve Maximum Magnesium Absorption
Note from Manufacturer:
“We always recommend that you wait for the product to stop fizzing before consuming it. The fizzing is a result of the Citric Acid and Magnesium Carbonate bonding together and forming the Magnesium Citrate. The hotter the water that you make it in, the faster the reaction occurs. It will still happen in cold water, however it can take upwards of 10 mins for it to fully dissolve. Compared to Magnesium Citrate’s 90% and up absorption rate, Magnesium Carbonate only has an absorption rate of 30%. Additionally, Magnesium Carbonate isn’t as easy for the body to break down once it’s ingested.”
Consequences of Magnesium Deficiency
Anxiety and panic attacks
Musculoskeletal conditions (fibromyalgia, cramps, chronic back pain, etc.)
Obstetrics and gynecology (PMS, infertility, and preeclampsia)
Final Word – Natural Calm Review Conclusion
Natural Calm is one of my favorite supplements. Really check if you are highly deficient in this vitamin/ mineral, because most people are! You can get your blood work tested for this, however, it can be expensive. A quicker way is to supplement with it and note how you feel. Most people notice a quick change in mood and improved symptoms. If you have any of the above symptoms or if you’re an athlete you should really look into this.
